History
On the occasion of the official Coronation Ceremony upon His Majesty's coming of age at 20 years old. The ceremony was held on 16 October 1873 (B.E. 2416). The commemorative medal for this ceremony bears the royal cypher "จจจ" on the obverse and the national coat of arms on the reverse, implying that this was the occasion on which His Majesty officially assumed rule of the kingdom. The medal measures 66 mm and was struck in silver and copper; the one pictured is silver. The obverse bears the royal cypher "จจจ", and for this reason collectors call it the "Jor Jor Jor" medal.
Beneath the national coat of arms is a verse composed by Somdet Phra Sangkharat (Sa), which translates as "The harmony of people who are together brings about prosperity." This coat of arms is the same design as that on the reverse of the one-baht coin of His Majesty's reign.
