History
Created as a commemorative piece for the royal cremation of Princess Bandhavan Varobhas on 14 February R.S. 110 (1892 (B.E. 2435) by the present calendar) at Wat Thepsirindrawat. There are 2 types:
1. A prize medal for the table-setting (khrueang tho) competition held in honor of the late Princess at Wat Thepsirindrawat on 14–15 and 18 February R.S. 110 (B.E. 2435 by the present calendar, in which 1 January marks the new year). It was awarded to the winners of the table-setting competition. 2. A commemorative silver button, given to those who attended the ceremony. In the reign of King Rama V it was customary to make buttons to distribute as keepsakes at the cremations of princes and princesses, government officials, and the general public.
Princess Bandhavan Varobhas was the 16th daughter of King Chulalongkorn (Rama V). She was born to Chao Khun Phra Prayurawong (Chao Chom Manda Phae, daughter of Chao Phraya Surawong Waiwat Worawat Bunnag, Chao Khun Thahan) on Thursday, 25 November 1875 (B.E. 2418). She died on 15 May 1891 (B.E. 2434) at the age of 17.
