History
A royal decoration medal awarded as a personal reward from the King. His Majesty ordered it created in the Year of the Rooster, R.S. 116 (1897, B.E. 2440), before his first royal journey to Europe, to be bestowed on those who had rendered service to the King personally. It ranks below the Ratanaphon Medal (Rattanaphon Medal). It was bestowed on officials of the royal household, officers of the royal guard, and others who had given meritorious service in the royal court, and also on officials of foreign monarchs' courts, such as pages in attendance and similar ranks. The medal was made in silver and in gilt, in the form of a flat round medal. It uses the abbreviation "ร . จ . ท ( ๕ )" (R. J. T. (5)). On the reverse, the center of the wheel (chakra) bears the inscription "ราชรุจิยา ทิน์นมิท ๐" (Ratcharuchiya Tinnamit), which means "The King is pleased with this and bestows it." It is worn with a red ribbon: for male recipients (the outer court), it is worn on the left chest of the coat; for female recipients (the inner court), the ribbon is tied in the shape of a dragonfly and worn on the front of the left shoulder of the garment.
