History
King Prajadhipok’s Rajaruchi Medal (Rama VII)
His Majesty King Prajadhipok (Rama VII) graciously commanded its creation in 1927 (B.E. 2470). It was struck in gilt silver and in silver, and was a medal conferred as a personal reward from the King.
The medal has the same form and design as the Rajaruchi Medal of Rama V (King Chulalongkorn), except that the obverse bears the royal portrait of King Prajadhipok, with the inscription along the upper rim “ปชาธิปโก ปรมราชาธิราชา” (Prajadhipok, Supreme King of Kings). The medal's loop bears the inscription “ราชรุจิยา ทิน.นมิทํ” and is suspended from a green ribbon 3.3 centimeters wide. The reverse bears a chakra (discus) emblem.
For presentation to the outer court (men), it is worn on the left chest of the garment.
For presentation to the inner court (women), the ribbon is tied in the shape of a dragonfly and worn on the front of the left shoulder.
